I had heard references made to this movie a billion times and it seemed to be considered a very iconic film seen by apparently everyone but me, so I gave it a watch. I really didn’t think it was that great of a movie though, the story can be summed up in about five minutes and then all there’s left is perhaps intrigue with the details of what goes on for Chuck on the island, but at that point you might as well watch actual wilderness survival content. Maybe it could be argued that this film played a role in inspiring the prevalence of this type of content in the years following its release? Also, it kind of feels like an advertisement.
