I hadn’t really planned to watch this film, even though I had heard of it, I mostly heard it wasn’t that good, but I decided to watch it randomly on a whim. I already knew the story since I’d heard of most of this stuff before and while I think the film was quite selective about the elements it highlighted it did manage to capture a lot of the dirty and morally ambiguous nature of television and showbusiness, especially with the added layer of there being people’s lives on the line. I think the movie is intentionally provocative in a way that can be pretty excessive at times, but I will say that the directing had a cool style.
